Jones Beach, Long Island Revisited

The 231 ft. Jones Beach water tower - the gateway
to the world's most beautiful beach
It's July 4th, 2013 and the weather forecast is for hot and humid weather...a real kind of sticky day. It's always much warmer on the North Shore bordered by the Long Island Sound, where I live, vs. the South Shore of Long Island where the cool breezes bounce off the vast Atlantic Ocean. So we headed down to Jones Beach, my favorite place in the world, to get some natural "refrigeration." It had to be at least 15 degrees cooler and at 9:30 in the morning our favorite parking Field 6 was already filled to capacity. In fact, in all my years of going to Jones Beach, I don't think I've ever seen it so crowded. But there's plenty of other parking fields so we did get a parking spot.

Jones Beach's Field 6 was packed
A 4 mile Health Walk begins at Field 6
After a long walk on the famous boardwalk, we retreated to our piece of the beach for the day. No humidity, cool breezes, peace and quiet...the perfect 4th of July.
